Reconnecting with our Femeninity
As a boudoir photographer, my favorite part of the entire experience is getting to know the beautiful women who come to my studio. Everyone brings their own unique life experience with them to my Utah studio. Just scrolling through my Instagram you can see so many examples of women who were willing to be vulnerable in this experience and their inner strength, courage, and beauty pours out of them!
My session with Miss C was really special because I was able to walk with her through the experience of letting go and expressing her femininity to reveal how beautiful she truly is.
“I wanted to actually see what I look like in a way that I think a true photographer would capture…the full sense of who I am. I have struggled with my physical appearance, probably since as early as childhood. And having conquered [trauma], I am starting to really appreciate [myself] and be fully comfortable in my skin at what is shortly coming to be 45 years old.”
With a boudoir photography session, it’s not just the hair and makeup that set the tone. Clothes also help personalize a shoot. Being open to breaking outside of what you think you look good in is a liberating experience.
“I had never purchased lingerie before and I never thought that I was feminine enough for a simple tank top or without a bra or a pair of really nice bra and panties.”
Watching Miss C’s transformation through the lens was a remarkable sight! Many people come into the studio slightly nervous, especially if this is their first boudoir photography experience. This is why I try to cultivate a fun, lighthearted vibe to help each client relax and enjoy this special moment.
“It took so long for me to not have this tight face, but it finally came, so that was comforting. From the first outfit to the very end, it was this whole arc of just openness.”
You can definitely see that openness reflected in Miss C’s beautiful images. She was an absolute pleasure to shoot! If you’re interested in experiencing your own Inspired Boudoir Photography shoot, contact me!
